The first introduction of Akbari pistachio cultivar to Iran

Akbar Besanjide known as Akbar Taj-Abadi introduced Akbari pistachio cultivar as a new pistachio variety during 1950-60 in Taj-Abad village located in Rafsanjan. He passed away in 2000 (God bless him).

Akbari produces a higher number of four-leaflet and five-leaflet compound leaves than Ahmad Aghaei ones. Besides, leaf size is larger and petioles length is longer than those in Akbari. It has a flattened spear-shaped terminal leaflet which is bigger than lateral leaflets.

Kernel growing and Fruit ripening time

The maturity date of super long pistachiosis on 30 June and the ripening time is on 21 September that shows it is one of the latest-maturing varieties. The outer surface of the pistachio kernel is purple-brown in color and the inner section is light yellow.
