Packaging and export of Mamra almonds
Mamra almond is one of the highest quality almond cultivars produced in Iran and the world. Mamra almond tree is a late flowering type but its fruit is early ripening. This tree has a very high resistance to pests and diseases.
Mamra almond is a type of stone almond(Sangi) and has a hard and firm skin like it. Mamra almond kernels are very crunchy, sweet and tasty.
Some of the characteristics of midwifery almonds are:
- Mamra almond is late flowering.
- Mamra almonds have a very high percentage of nuts and twins.
- Mamra almond kernels are 100% sweet and not bitter.
- It has a high nutritional value.
- Mamra almond kernels are light in color.
- Mamra almond kernels are high in fat.
The highest volume of Mamra production in Iran is related to Chaharmahal Bakhtiari province. Cities along the Zayandeh River, such as Saman and Bon, have the highest production of Mamra almonds in this province. Due to the good climate and fertile soil, these regions produce a large volume of this product in Iran every year and send it to domestic and foreign markets.
Mamra almond packaging for export
As we have said, Mamra almonds have a very hard wood skin, so they are often broken and exported to different countries in the form of almond kernels. Every year, a large volume of this quality dried fruit is sent to different parts of the world in standard packages and with observance of hygienic points.
India is one of the main customers of Iranian Mamra almonds. Indian traders buy this product in sorted form and in specific sizes in packages of 10 to 12 kg of vacuum cartons. The use of vacuum packages due to the evacuation of available air causes higher durability and maintains the quality of almond kernels.
To pack Mamra almond kernels for export, first the almond kernels are sorted according to the size of the kernels and poured into interlocking bags and their lids are sewn. These envelopes are then placed in special and strong cartons. After that, they are ready to be exported by pulling special plastic on them.
Of course, the packaging of Mamra almond kernels for export can be done according to the customer’s request, but it is usually used in packages of 10 kg for export. In addition to India, other countries such as Russia, Turkey, Arab countries as well as European countries are major buyers of Mamra almonds.
